My three historical interest topics
Posted on September 7th, 2013 at 8:23 pm by and

The three historical topics I would be interested in researching throughout the semester are the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, Marilyn Monroe’s Death and Natalie Wood’s Death.

  1. The assassination of President John F. Kennedy (JFK)

Growing up, I have always heard about the assassination of JFK.  Whether it is in my history textbooks or my Mom and Grandmom discussing where they were when they learned that he had been assassinated.  In one of my many history textbooks I learned that he was our first and only Catholic president. This gave me extra interest due to the fact that I am Catholic. When it comes to the assassination it brings many common sense issues that were ignored, why was he riding in a convertible open to public to begin with? Plus, was it that the Secret Service did not do a good job or did they just not have resources to do a good job?

  1. Marilyn Monroe’s Death

I have always found Marilyn to be very fascinating whether it is through her acting, glamour and beauty.  Her life ended so tragically with many theories as to what happened. Before her death theories that she had been hospitalized for psychiatric problems and she had been receiving long-term psychiatric care.  Her death was ruled as a ‘probable’ suicide. However, many believe that she may have been murdered, to make sure that she did not talk about her connections with JFK and his brother Robert.

  1. Natalie Wood’s Death

Growing up watching the Christmas movie, The Miracle on 34th Street, was a tradition unlike any other.  My favorite character in the movie was cute little Susan Walker played by actress Natalie Wood. In fact, I never even knew who the actress was that played Susan Walker in the movie until Natalie Wood’s death investigation reopened a few years ago and it had mentioned her being in the movie.  I soon learned that the Hollywood actress had mysteriously drowned off the near the coast of Catalina Island thirty years ago.  The case had been reopened with some new evidence from people aboard the boat.
